EVO Canned Rabbit - Where did it go?

For months many retailers were wondering when the EVO canned rabbit formulas would be back in stock in the Northwest so we could fill our empty shelves again with a great product with high demand. So where did it go and why can't consumers find this product anywhere?

Answer: Natura Pet Products, maker of EVO, has a strict policy of only sourcing its ingredients from reputable, reliable and sustainable suppliers. However, the list of suppliers that fit those parameters for rabbit meat are few and far between. The inability to sustain the demand caused Natura to make a tough decision of either continuing to offer the product but sporadically or ending the line to maintain their philosophy of only offering sustainable products. They chose the latter and therefore EVO rabbit canned food is no longer offered by Natura.

Great Treat Deal!!

Finally, a great treat deal for our customers from Merrick Pet Foods!! In today's economy, even though finances are tight, our pets' desire for treats hasn't let up one bit. "Fido" still wants his grub and we love giving it to him. Good news for everyone out there reading this blog, Merrick Pet Foods has come out with a bag of treats called "Hungry Dog". This is a mix-and-match bag of great treats (bully sticks, pig ears, porkhide chews, hooves, etc.) that were essentially leftover scraps during their packing process. There is no consistency in what you get in the bag other than that the weight is about 2#. The great thing about this bag of treats is that it retails for $10-12 and contains over $20+ dollars worth of all natural dog treats. I recommend it to all of our large and small dog owners, especially if your dog is teething or chewing your couch:)

Puppies and Teething

One of the most frequent questions I get asked during this time of the year when working at one of our stores is, "My puppy is going through the chewing stage, what can I do?" The problem is that puppies teeth just like our children when they are getting new teeth. The difference is that our kids usually fuss or cry while our dogs chew everything in sight!

Although there is not a fix all solution, one of the best things you can do to manage the situation is offer your puppy a variety of puppy-appropriate treats. Keep their attention focused on something that is challenging and rewarding and keep your couch from being shredded:)

Some great puppy treats include: beef tendons, bully sticks, puppy nylabones, Everlasting Treat Ball from Star Mark, frozen raw bones.

Remember that children cry and puppies chew, a lot!
